Transformed a lackluster Purdue Pharma finance area supporting $2 billion annual sales
Finance analytics infrastructure was incapable of supporting company's dramatic five-year sales growth ($300 million to $2+ billion). Company could not accurately gauge finance / operations performance.
Launched all-out, metrics-driven initiative to fully systematize function / reporting. Developed multiple performance measurement systems; originated / launched company intranet report gallery followed with finance dashboard; collaborated on finance department's archive site; initiated key performance indicators (KPIs) program — later adopted company-wide; and developed functional scorecard.
Strategic Impact
- For first time, company executives could make policy, strategize decisions, and assign accountability based upon multi-weekly comprehensive and accurate sales, finance, and special situation performance metrics.
- Systems served as prototype for reporting other strategic functions' performance metrics. Periodic reporting became norm for all finance function areas.
- Over 13 months, operations productivity increased with dramatic impacts in workflows, order processing, customer service, product recall procedures, "problem" reporting and resolution, and quality control across organization.
